Collection consists primarily of account books, 1819-1847, kept by William Smith of Charlotte Court House, Va., concerning the operations of a tavern and blacksmith shop. Also, includes two account books, 1828- 1829 and 1846-1847, kept by unidentified merchants at Charlotte Court House and other scattered financial records. Some materials concern John Randolph of Roanoke.
